I am going to visit the trails in the area the week before the convention , and may even ride some if I have to, to determine exactly how good the snowpack is in the different areas. I will then send out an e-mail describing the different conditions so that people can decide where they want to go. I will display a Poster at the convention with locations, conditions and times for the rides, and will have people set up to lead the rides. I would like to know from the membership who might want to ride Fri, early afternoon. We will schedule rides Sat Morning and Sunday Morning.
There are a number of places to go that are within a 1 hour drive:
1) Blue Lakes, West of the Convention site, offers a wide variety of riding areas
2) The East side of Lake Tahoe (Kingsbury Grade to Spooner Summit) offers the best photo opportunities
3) Sonora Pass/HW 108 is south of the Convention site and offers a lot of very high and rugged areas
4) HW 4 is nearby and will take you to Bear Valley if you like
There are a number of other areas that are smaller and further away so we will probably stick with the first 3 if snow conditions are good
Please pass this on to the membership so that they can volunteer to lead rides in areas that they know. Also, am interested in
what days they plan to be available to lead rides.
